Event Details

Join Hostelling International as we explore and celebrate Peruvian culture and cuisine while raising funds for our Cultural Kitchen youth program. As an afterschool activity, Cultural Kitchen teaches Boston and Somerville youth about culture and diversity using cooking as the primary vehicle – just like travelers at our hostels learn about one another while cooking together in the hostel kitchen.

In its first three years, Cultural Kitchen has worked with:
23 Schools and Community Centers
30 Teachers and Staff
17 Volunteers
355 Participating Students

Cultural Cafe gives us a chance to experience something similar to what the students experience in our program. The setting is informal as we gather to build community, learn more about Peruvian culture, share a delicious meal, and support a great cause.

Menu
Fried Plantains
Causa Limeña - seasoned mashed potato cakes filled with chicken
Machu Picchu Salad - lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, Peruvian corn and fresh cheese
Vegetarian Lomo - onions, tomatoes, corn, carrots, peas, accompanied with rice
Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken

As a special treat, we will enjoy a tableside cooking demonstration of the national dish from Peru: Ceviche de Pescado

Come join us for a great evening to support a wonderful cause!
